By offering competitive prices, excellent service and even better food, Brown Sugar Catering wants to be your choice for your special day! We’ll work with you to come up with the perfect menu, sure to please your guests — with or without food allergies. If you’re unsure of what you’re interested in, we are happy to set up a tasting to help you decide. If you have no idea where to start, our staff is comprised of professionals with recommendations, suggestions and creative ideas to help you get your menu up and running. Policy

Food Tastings

Food tastings are optional experiences available for bookings over 100 guests. For tastings you may select up to three appetizers, two sides, and two entrees. If dessert will be part of your menu, you may select up to one for your tasting. Most of the choices on our menu can be prepared for a tasting, and you’ll want to select items that you intend to serve at your event. For plated meals you will receive taster sized portions of each of the items plus one full-size plate so you can view the actual presentation. Buffet items will be served in an al a carte manner. Oh, and come hungry! Anything you can’t finish can be packed up upon request.

A common question we get is, “Do we have to sign a contract BEFORE the tasting?” No It is not required to sign the contract before the tasting; however, we do require payment up front for the cost of the food and services during the tasting, which will then be deducted from the final event total if you choose to continue with our services.

For events totaling less than $6,000, the cost for a tasting averages between $25 – $50 per person. Additional tastings are subject to charge.

STAFFING

Our charge for staffing is $20.00 an hour per staff member. There is a four hour minimum. Seated events require 1 staff person per 10 guests. Buffet and cocktail events require 1 staff person per 25 guests. Number of staff may vary based on event logistics. The length of the average event is between 6-8 hours when including set-up and clean-up. Gratuity and tips for culinary staff personal is at the discretion of the client.

RENTALS

Rental costs tend to vary based on the event and the needs of the client. For food, our clients can expect an average price of around $30.00 per person. Rentals may include include chairs, tables, china, flatware, glassware, linens, cooking equipment, and serving equipment. If you are working with an event planner, we will be happy to collaborate with them to coordinate the best courses of action.

BEVERAGES

Brown Sugar Catering can present guests with a variety of soft drinks and juices at an average cost of $6 per person. Drinks included range from Coke products, seltzer and tonic waters to assorted fruit juices, coffee and tea.

ALCOHOL

Under Tennessee state law, clients must purchase their own liquor for their reception unless the facility they have chosen has a liquor license. We may hire licensed bartenders for your event in the states of TN, AL, and GA at a rate of $40 per hour. 1 Bartender per 50 guests is recommended.
